There’s so much fun to be had when it comes to decorating children’s rooms! It’s a rare opportunity to throw caution to the wind and go for something that you wouldn’t normally choose in the rest of your home. But that doesn’t mean child-friendly design shouldn’t satisfy in the style stakes too. Read on for some of our favourite colour schemes for children’s rooms…
Gentle earth tones
Warm, earthy colours like
Paw Print or
Inglenook provide a calming backdrop to any nursery. Go for a muted shade with grey or brown undertones as a relaxing alternative to off-white, which can sometimes feel a little stark in baby’s bedrooms.
Inglenook works especially well with similar soft colours such as this cot painted in
Peach Baby. Pair with cream or grey-toned greens for a soothing colour scheme that’s just right for a relaxed nursery space.

Green and aqua
Green colour schemes are a great choice for children’s rooms… from bedrooms to playrooms, there’s a shade of green to suit every child’s space. Deep forest greens might not be the first shade you’d think of, but see how
Hobby Wood allows other blues and yellows to really pop in this playful setup. Here we’ve paired
Hobby Wood with the joyful tones of
Sapling and
Milk Jug.

Pretty pastels
There’s nothing quite as charming as soft, delicate shades of pinks and purples adorning a baby’s room. This combination needn’t be sickly sweet though! Choose purple shades with a grey undertone and pinks on the duskier end of the spectrum (like
Rosie Posie or
Cupcake) for a stylish take on this tried and tested colour scheme.

Blue and white
Polka Dot is one of our most beloved blues, with its earthy undertone it’s a winning shade for younger and older children’s bedrooms. Here we've paired it with light neutrals. But it works just as well next to deeper shades of blue or bright white, two classic colour schemes for children's rooms.

Soft green
We couldn't resist sharing another dreamy green colour scheme. A cute corner painted in our soft grey-green
Gregory's Den, this shade is one that will stand the test of time and won't outgrow your child's bedroom (even if they do!)
