Cob and clay are soft substances and allow water to penetrate easily, therefore we would not recommend our Silicate Masonry System for use on exterior surfaces with these substrates. This is due to the paint being unable to bond correctly. However, cob or clay walls that have been coated in lime render first, or are internal walls, can be painted with the Silicate Primer and Silicate Masonry System.
