Which primer should you use with our Silicate Masonry Paint?

With the new addition of our Bonding Primer to our range, you may be wondering which primer to use with our Silicate Masonry paint.

Silicate Masonry Paint is a durable and highly breathable alternative to lime based and conventional coatings. It’s weather resistant and has a matt finish with 48 beautiful colours to choose from. It’s especially suitable for renovation work on historic buildings, including painting of lime based products and for the covering old, sound silicate-based paints.

For Silicate Masonry Paint to work effectively, you must use either our Silicate Primer or Bonding Primer.

Silicate Primer is for use on uncoated, bare, porous surfaces. When combined with Silicate Masonry Paint it will create a highly breathable and permanent chemical bond.

Bonding Primer is for use over previously painted, sound surfaces. When combined with Silicate Masonry Paint it will create a strong mechanical bond.
