Painting furniture is simple and quick using our range of eco-friendly upcycle products! We’ve put together some of the easiest ways you can paint furniture at home using Earthborn furniture paint.
We have two paint finishes that are perfect for painting furniture:
Our first product is Earthborn Eco Chic. Eco Chic has the same formulation as our luxuriously thick and creamy Claypaint, making it a dream to use for upcycling projects.
Eco Chic is super versatile: you can dilute it with water, layer it and sand back areas, or as a contemporary, flat finish. With a high clay content, it covers exceptionally well, so a little goes a long way.
Alternatively, our Earthborn Eggshell No.17 is ideal for all interior woodwork including skirting boards, doors and door frames, along with any piece of furniture. Eggshell No.17 is a smooth, durable and scuff resistant furniture paint with a silky soft sheen finish.
It’s easy! We recommend lightly sanding your furniture first to provide a key and help the paint stick.
Eco Chic paint can be applied directly, but due to its beautifully thick texture we find it is easier to dilute the first coat, with around 1 part water to 9 parts paint. Follow this with another full coat, or get creative and apply your chosen technique such as a colour wash or Crackle effect.
When using Eggshell No.17, simply prime using our Multi Purpose Primer. Follow this with 2-3 coats of paint for a contemporary finish. Both products are quick drying so your project can be ready in no time. And due to its hardwearing soft sheen, Eggshell No.17 doesn’t require finishing with any other product.
Our range of furniture painting products means you can create a variety of unique effects, giving your piece of furniture some personality of its own! There’s lots of exciting ways to paint furniture, but here are a few of our favourites:
To give your furniture a simple update, paint it in one single colour. Use our Eggshell No.17 to create a smooth, consistent look and a durable, wipeable finish.
If you’d prefer to enhance natural patina of your furniture, Earthborn Eco Chic and Furniture Wax helps you achieve a beautiful, characterful finish. Our soft wax is easy to work with, has a very low odour, and can be applied with a brush or cloth. After painting with Earthborn Eco Chic furniture paint, simply apply a coat of Furniture Wax. Allow to dry, then buff to a soft sheen.
For a more matt finish, you only need to buff very lightly, or buff a little more for extra shine and protection. Our Furniture Wax looks better with age, but any scratches or scrapes can be re-waxed and re-buffed easily. It’s perfect for all types of interior furniture and takes around 10 days to fully harden and cure.
Colour blocking is an on-trend technique that’s really easy to do. When it comes to painting furniture with a colour block technique, Eco Chic paint and Furniture Glaze are a match made in heaven. Simply mask off areas and paint your chosen section; that’s it! When you’re done, give the whole piece a coat of Furniture Glaze to protect both the painted and unpainted areas.
