Case Study: Earthborn and Atelier Tammam

10th August 2015

We worked with London eco boutique Atelier Tammam on their interior scheme back in 2013, and were delighted to hear of their recent decorating plans to launch a new collection. Owner Lucy Tammam shares the story of using Earthborn for this exciting project:

Next year we will be launching our new line of LBDs (little black dresses) to complement our couture eveningwear and bridal collections at Atelier Tammam. In order to update our bijoux boutique and create space for the new collection we held an interior design competition – our second annual Sustainable World Competition.” We received some incredible entries in all three categories and after much deliberation named our winners:

Overall interior design – Personae Design

Art installation – Rachel Filmer of Cut Scenes

Wallpaper – K. Birdy

Working closely with Sarah from Personae Design we chose the colour scheme based on the Earthborn current seasonal colours. Reading Room Claypaint was a clear favourite, offering a vibrant, bright and playful tone, and chosen for the left side of the showroom, which will house our new LBD collection. This ends in the changing room, with updated vintage gold drapes, hand crafted rail from Hunter & Hyland and the wallpaper feature wall designed by immensely talented Kiersty of K.Birdy, incorporating all of our favourite birds – including one of the Tammam inspirations – the peacock, perfectly coloured to complement our ‘Reading Room’ wall. The wallpaper was printed bespoke, using eco inks by Hovia.

The incredible cutwork tree, an art piece by Rachel Filmer will also be housed on the ‘Reading Room’ wall. The striking black against the deep teal really is a feast for the eyes.

On the right hand side of the boutique we wanted more subtle tones. We created a nook around the three big mirrors using our jewellery cabinet and chose Earthborn’s ‘Lily Lily Rose’ Claypaint for the walls. Unfortunately in the bright Bloomsbury lights, ‘Lily Lily Rose’ was slightly too lilac and we opted for the pale and interesting ‘Eyebright’ instead, which looks magical with our haute couture collection in front of it.

We also used ‘Eyebright’ for the windowsills and door, and decided to open up our basement to use for storage and events, so we took off the false floor and painted the aging trap door with the ‘Eyebright’ Eggshell, which was odourless (keeping the Tammam team happy and headache free).

We are delighted with our new showroom; working with Earthborn paints was such a pleasure!
