Lady Bug in a playful colour scheme | Interior decorating ideas

24th March 2023

A small white desk against a colour blocked wall.

Unsurprisingly, we love playing with colour at Earthborn HQ and Lady Bug, our Colour of the Year 2023, is the perfect shade to have fun with. We have handpicked some of our favourite colour combinations that guarantee to inject a bit of fun into your home and hope to inspire you to include Lady Bug in a playful colour scheme for your next project.

Contrasting colours create balance

The deep, earthy, natural tones of Lady Bug make it surprisingly versatile when it comes to mixing it with other colours. Create balance by contrasting this heated burgundy with vibrant blues and bold greens. Contrasting vibrant pops of colour against a backdrop of Lady Bug is an easy way to introduce a playful colour scheme into your home.

Our crystal clear, Caribbean blue The Lido, is the perfect complementary colour to our Colour of the Year. When used together The Lido adds a playful touch to the otherwise intensely sophisticated hue of Lady Bug. Similarly, Polka Dot is equally as complementary, but a slightly softer way to achieve the same effect. To use in a scheme, consider saturating walls (and ceiling if you’re brave!) in Lady Bug and add accents of The Lido or Polka Dot in the form of colour blocking or contrasting woodwork.

If you’re a fan of green (well come on, who isn’t!) then good news as Hobgoblin is perfectly suited to Lady Bug. Consider adding cladded panelling to the lower half of your walls in this easy going green and painting the top half of your walls in Lady Bug. This striking combination is sure to put a smile on your face every time you enter the room.
