Lady Bug in a harmonious colour scheme | Interior decorating ideas

14th April 2023

Harmonious colour swatches.

A scheme that is considered harmonious is one that features colours that sit adjacent on the colour wheel. Lady Bug, our Colour of the Year 2023 sits next to orange and purple on the colour wheel, meaning these hues perfectly complement each other. Considering Lady Bug in your home? Here’s our easy guide to using Lady Bug in a harmonious colour scheme.

Don’t be afraid to mix two reds…

Our jewel of a colour Lady Bug has perfect amounts of red and purple mixed together to create what we think might just be, the perfect burgundy. To match the energy of this dramatic shade consider pairing with our Moulin Rouge inspired red Can-Can. Don’t be afraid of mixing two reds hues, used in different amounts the effect is a real head turner and sure to impress – you can thank us later.

A little too daring? Why not try our delicious coral pink Delilah. Using Can-Can and Delilah as accent colours in small amounts will allow you to jump on this scheme without it feeling too overpowering. To inject these shades as accents, consider using Eco Chic in Delilah on wooden furniture and Eggshell No.17 in Can-Can on your skirting and door frames.

To dial down the dramatic nature of Lady Bug but have a scheme that is still harmonious, opt for an orange hue. Burnt umbers and earthy oranges like Flower Pot and Freckle help enhance the natural warmth of Lady Bug and create scheme reminiscent of autumn that is sure to be singing harmoniously all year round.
