Earthborn #claymate Jess’s toy kitchen makeover

18th November 2019

Gold is a neutral play kitchen

Back in May, Earthborn #claymate Jess (from interiors and lifestyle blog Gold is a Neutral) transformed her daughter Nellie’s bedroom into a ‘pink but not too pink’ paradise. It’s a gorgeous combination of Earthborn paint colours Paw Print, Rosie Posie and Humpty Dumpty. If you missed it, check it out here.

Jess’s stylish toy kitchen makeover

To complete Nellie’s dream bedroom makeover, Jess decided to upcycle her cute play kitchen too. Although this red toy kitchen was fun to play with, it didn’t quite fit in with her new colour palette of taupe, pink and mustard. As Jess explained:

“We bought this for Raf’s 2nd birthday and it’s been passed on, and is still one of her favourite toys where she cooks mainly cake and cookies. But the blue and red didn’t match her new room at all, and it was looking a bit shabby round the edges so I decided to give it a makeover using the Earthborn colours I’ve used in her room.”

Gold is a Neutral blogger Jess used Earthborn Eggshell No.17 for this toy kitchen makeover

Dreamy play kitchen colour palette

For Nellie’s toy kitchen makeover, Jess used her bedroom paint colours Paw Print and Humpty Dumpty. She painted the main part of the kitchen in pale pink Cupcake and added our new 1950’s inspired paint shade Delilah accents. Jess also created a gorgeous terrazzo inspired pattern. She said:

“In the planning stages I considered adding terrazzo style wallpaper or tiles as a splash back. But in the end I decided to have a go at painting the terrazzo on myself. I also sprayed the tap and sink gold for that extra sparkle…”
